Shanghai Yuyuan Market, also called Yuyuan Bazaar, is an area of stores along the Old Street (Chenghuangmiao). The place gets some two hundred thousand visitors daily: people come to the bazaar to buy, sell and eat—the energy and atmosphere of the market is quite entertaining.

The stores sell a miscellany of items including chopsticks, Chinese medicine, walking sticks, fans, silk umbrellas, bamboo and rattan furniture, goldfish, pottery, and much more. Part of the market has also been transformed into an indoor mall. Visitors should remember to bargain for a good price. Food is also a great temptation in Yuyuan Market with local delicacies such as Xiao Long Bao, pigeon egg dumplings and spicy cold noodles from the street stalls or numerous restaurants.
